Pasado y Presente AfroMexicano (Afro-Mexican Past and Present) is a visual exploration of the lives, traditions, and cultural legacies of Afro-descendant communities in regions such as the Costa Chica of Oaxaca and Guerrero, and Veracruz.
Approach
Combined a series of photography, typography, and layout to highlight both historical and contemporary perspectives. The design emphasizes storytelling through imagery and archival material, using color, composition, and texture to reflect the vibrancy and resilience of Afro-Mexican culture.




OutcomeThe final work offers a tactile experience that brings attention to Afro-Mexican communities’ lives and legacies. The design supports cultural preservation, educates audiences, and amplifies the visibility of these underrepresented narratives.
